What does “slow, irregular, or weak breathing” look and sound like?

If a person is breathing at least one full breath every 6 seconds, they are considered to be breathing regularly. Slow breathing would look like breathing every 7+ seconds. Irregular breathing can look like not taking breaths at a constant rate (ex. 1 full breath, another breath 8 seconds later, quick breath 3 seconds later, etc.). If the person’s breathing sounds raspy or ragged, sounds like choking or gurgling sounds, or is not regular, move through the STIM (Speak, Touch, Intense touch, Monitor breathing) steps to assess if the person is actually overdosing.
